Cape Town – Tour promoter Hunta Live confirmed to Channel24.co.za on Tuesday that pop superstars Duran Duran have cancelled their SA tour.
Sluggish ticket sales were cited as one of the reasons for the cancellation, as well as the inability of all parties concerned to renegotiate the scheduled dates.
A spokesperson for Hunta Live told Channel24 in a statement: "We are currently trying to renegotiate 2011 dates with them as we firmly believe that given more time, ticket sales will improve dramatically and the tour will be very successful."
"In the meantime, all ticket holders will receive a full refund from any Computicket outlet."
"We apologise to all the fans for any inconvenience caused due to the short notice but would like to assure them that we are doing everything we can from our side to secure dates for next year to bring the supergroup that is Duran Duran to South Africa."
Hunta Live indicated that it would issue a full press statement at a later time.
