Cape Town – A Cape Town man has gone from being a jail bird to singing for the Queen of the Netherlands in a very short space of time.
Die Volksblad reported that Larry Joe referred to his new life as a free man as: "Every day is Christmas".
Joe was released on parole in December 2010 after serving half of his sentence for burglary and theft. He was released early due to good behaviour.
His singing talent was discovered in prison and since his release he has been going from strength to strength.
Joe was the only SA singer to be invited by Ambassador Peter Goosen to perform for Queen Beatrix.
"I am now living my dream," said Joe, whose album, Crazy Life, was released the same day as he was released from prison.
