Gaga fans not happy with ticket system

Cape Town – Fans looking to buy tickets to the Lady Gaga concert taking place in South Africa later this year have been left frustrated by technical glitches that have caused delays in purchases being processed by Computicket.

Channel24 reader Marzenna Almendro is one fan who is unhappy about the service she has received.

"I managed to purchase my Lady Gaga tickets. However, the first time I was routed to the check out, I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find an option to purchase the VIP tickets.  I was then kicked out because my session timed out.

"Luckily I was in a second queue on another PC and just quickly bought two R715 tickets. I appear to not be the only person in this situation, and have written on the Computicket FB page numerous times, but have received no answer why I had no option, and if I would be allowed to upgrade to a VIP ticket," she said.

However, Computicket did respond to the complaints and released a statement on their Facebook page that removed responsibility from them.

"We apologise for the inconvenience, socket errors in the verification process are part of security checks & not under Computicket's control," read the statement.

'Not good enough'

Another Lady Gaga fan, Emanuel Ferreira, retaliated to the statement and slated the ticket seller for poor service.

"I'm sorry but this is not good enough. People including myself have been in queue since 9am and have to wait again because of some glitch? Unacceptable!

"First the selection page refreshed itself wasting 2 of the precious 10 minutes then both my cards, one of which is definitely 3d secure got rejected.

"According to Standard Bank, I should have received a prompt for a OTP which I never a) got asked for and b) was sent! This seems to be a gross oversight on both computicket as well as the banks! Loyal patrons should be compensated," he wrote.

Other readers also showed their dissatisfaction with the queuing system being used to purchase the tickets.

"Hellish and painful. Page timed out repeatedly leaving me with 4 seconds to find, login and pay for a ticket. Now queuing. AGAIN. Got in the Q, got my 10 mins an hour later, but was 10 min of errors... back to number "over a 1000 in front of you" tweeted @JanicefromSA.

Juan Beukes was more straightforward in his attacks directed at Computicket.

"My queue status went from waiting 7hours and 7min up to 11hours and then up to 14Hours. Now 15min later I don't even get an indication of how long it will still take," he said.

Val Britnow agreed and said that the system was in shambles.

'The system sucks'

"The system sucks. I was in the queue and got the email and went on line and booked my 4 tickets... then Computicket site declined my log in which i use all the time... so lost the damn tickets," she said.

One fan was happy that her purchase was finally approved and she received her tickets.

"WOOOHOOOOOOOOO Awesomeness Got my VIP tickets for Lady Gage via the awesome hasselfree QUEUE-IT in less than 10 mins! YAY!! @Computicket ROCKS," tweeted Lynette Hundermark.

Earlier on concert organisers, Big Concerts, posted some reasons why there delays might be taking place:

A few transactions have been declined at check-out, mostly for the following reasons:

1. incorrect card information provided.
2. fans trying to purchase more than the EIGHT ticket limit.
3. Please be aware of this.

At the time of the update there were still 26 000 people waiting in the queue for tickets.
