Gareth Cliff teams up with SA's Bieber

Bloemfontein – Gareth Cliff is his new manager and an American producer who has worked with stars such as Celine Dion is on his way to hone the raw talent of Bloemfontein’s own "Justin Bieber".

Vicus Visser (17) of Heidedal will be recording three songs at a studio in Johannesburg. The young singer appeared on kykNET's Kwêla on Wednesday.

Rina Broomsberg and Gareth Cliff manage production company One on One Productions, who will be in charge of directing Vicus' interests.

Broomsberg and Cliff are very excited about the future of the talented teen who recently accomplished instant fame through his YouTube video.

Top producer

According to Broomsberg a song titled These Arms by the group All-for-One will be one of the songs that Vicus will be recording in Johannesburg.

This is the song sung by Vicus in the YouTube clip that made him famous. Broomsberg and Cliff aim to establish a long and successful career for the teenager. They want him to finish his schooling while developing into a well-rounded artist.

Broomsberg is convinced that Vicus displays "raw talent" that still needs training. "Many international record companies have shown interest in Vicus, however we don’t want a rushed process to get him signed and on the stage. He is not ready yet."

Broomsberg added that Steve Morales, a top producer who has worked with stars such as Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias and Christina Aguilera, will be arriving in South Africa shortly in order to work with Vicus.

Delighted

"It is important to us that Vicus must find his own identity. Usher is his idol, but Vicus is unique. He does not need to copy anyone."

Due to Cliff's hectic schedule, he and Vicus have not met in person, although they have spoken on the phone.

"Gareth is very positive about Vicus and agrees that Vicus' talent must first be honed in order to guarantee him a career in the industry where young people are prone to suddenly falling off the radar."

Vicus is a pupil in Grade 11 at Heatherdale Highschool, and says that he is enjoying every moment.

"All my friends just want to know when I'll be going overseas, I can't wait."

He is very pleased that he now has a manager.

His mother, Elsie Peters is also delighted.
