Jan Blohm DUI case dismissed

Johannesburg – Afrikaans rocker Jan Blohm will not be charged with drunk driving for which he was arrested earlier this year.

Blohm reportedly drove into a wall at Waverley in Pretoria Moot on February 26 and there are claims that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Police told Beeld earlier that they found a drunk Blohm at the scene of the accident in Breyer Avenue. Blohm was arrested and taken to a local hospital for a blood alcohol test.

A public prosecutor at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday confirmed that the case will not even be placed on the court roll.

Fix a wall

Beeld determined the reason for this is that police did not arrive in time, which is within two hours after the incident, to draw a blood sample from Blohm.

Apparently there wasn't even a description of the accident in the police docket.

The prosecutor reportedly told Blohm he has to fix the wall he damaged.

Due to Blohm's arrest he missed the Where Blues Meets Rock Music Festival on the farm Witfontein outside Bronkhorstspruit.

Blohm was also arrested in September on charges of public intoxication.

Zinta Kymdell, Blohm's wife on Thursday said her husband was doing a rehearsal and he is not available to speak to the media.
