Los Angeles - A jury has started deliberations in a case claiming the promoter of Michael Jackson's comeback concerts was negligent in hiring the doctor who killed the superstar.
The lawsuit filed by Jackson's family went to the jury on Thursday after the conclusion of closing arguments.
Attorney Brian Panish, who represents the family, urged the jury to find that AEG Live LLC hired Dr Conrad Murray to be Jackson's physician without considering whether he was fit for the job.
Panish did not deny that Jackson had a role in the hiring but said the singer should be found to share only 20% of the blame.
On Wednesday, defence attorney Marvin Putnam told jurors that Jackson was the architect of his own demise and no one else can be blamed.
Putnam said Jackson insisted on hiring the cardiologist, despite objections from AEG Live.
