Los Angeles - Justin Timberlake is supporting anti-rape group Take Back the Night following objections to his forthcoming single of the same name.
The Suit and Tie singer was unaware of the sexual violence charity when naming his next release but hopes the mix-up will raise awareness for the foundation, who sent an angered letter claiming he 'used their name without permission" in a "sexual" song.
In a statement released to RadarOnline.com, Justin said: "Upon the release of my new single Take Back The Night, I was made aware of an organisation of the same name called The Take Back The Night Foundation.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to let all know that neither my song nor its lyrics have any association with the organisation."
Awareness
Justin continued: "As I've learned more about The Take Back The Night Foundation, I'm moved by its efforts to stop violence against women, create safe communities and encourage respectful relationships for women - Something we all should rally around. It is my hope that this coincidence will bring more awareness to this cause."
The statement follows an apology by Justin's representatives after the foundation's Executive Director Katherine Koestner said she was shocked by Justin's song.
She said: "The lyrics are definitely very sexual and not at all clearly anti-sexual violence."
Take Back The Night will be the first single from Justin's The 20/20 Experience - 2 Of 2 album, which will be released on 27 September.
