Los Angeles - Lady Gaga's new single revisits the "pain" of her past.
The star is gearing up for the release of her third album, ARTPOP, and has dramatically described the moment she handed the first song to be released from it over to her record label.
In a post on her new website, LittleMonsters.com, she wrote: "ARTPOP as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. its a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. but all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. im just ready to fight. start the music.
(sic)"
The message was posted next to a new photo of the singer, pictured without make-up and with dyed brunette hair.
'Rage of electronic passion'
ARTPOP will be released on 11 November, preceded by a single, the title of which is not yet known, on 19 August.
The 27-year-old has previously described the album as a "rage" of "electronic passion".
A post on her Facebook page read: "The album ARTPOP musically mirrors Gaga's creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey. The result, a 'rage' of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end."
