Local acts announced for Madiba’s Cape Town memorial

Cape Town – City of Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille announced the local acts that are set to perform at Nelson Mandela’s memorial at the Cape Town stadium on Wednesday.

De Lille tweeted on Monday: “Freshlyground, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and The Bala Brothers will perform at the @CityofCT's memorial service for #Madiba at CT stadium”

The details for the official Cape Town memorial are as follows:

Wednesday 11 December
From 16:00  (Gates open at 14:00) until 23:00.
Green Point Stadium, Green Point

Access: If you want to attend the Cape Town memorial you will need to get complimentary coupons from Computicket outlets with presentation of a valid ID, passport or driver’s license. Coupons also entitle holders to free transport via MyCiti, Golden Arrow and Metrorail services in and out of the city from/to all stations from 12pm on the day. Five coupons per person allowed.

The memorial for Madiba in Cape Town forms part of three key events taking place to honour the Father of our Nation ahead of his State Funeral in Qunu on Sunday 15 December. For more information on all the events and how to gain access to them, click here.
