Local joins Trey Songz on SA tour

Cape Town – Ferdy Ferd, an R&B star originally from Paarl in the Western Cape, will be sharing a stage with American R&B star Trey Songz at the weekend.

Songz, who arrives in South Africa on Monday, is visiting South Africa as part of his Me and My Girls Featuring Trey Songz tour.

According to Ferdy Ferd, the organisers for Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, asked him to be part of the tour "because they like my type of music a lot".

"I've known for a while now that Trey is coming to South Africa. But I had to keep everything quiet, and only made the announcement last week that I will be part of his SA tour."

Ferd is Felicity Kiran's brother, who sang New Zealand's anthem during the Tri-Nations in Port Elizabeth.

This is not the first time that Ferd will tour with international stars. He has toured with Shane Ward, Ronan Keating, Tyga and Will Young.

Ferd is planning to release his first single after the tour with Songz. Ferd has worked with Proverb and Jamali and is currently working on his album which he wants to release in February 2012.

Trey Songz will be performing on Friday, August 26 at The Wave House in Durban and on Saturday, August 27 at The Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg. Tickets are available at Computicket.
