Los Angeles – Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has slammed MTV on Twitter for not "caring" about music, reports NYDaliyNews.
Levine tweeted the following on Saturday: "The VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. Fuck you VMA's."
MTV responded to Levine's tweet by saying, "Soooo you'll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? "BTW, bonus points if you Twitpic your 2004 Moonman!"
Abuzz
Levine, whose band was not nominated for any VMAs this year, made no apology for his statement and did not attend the awards show.
"i may be a pop singer," the singer further tweeted, "but every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. it’s a reflex."
"still waiting to have my 'jerry macguire mission statement moment of deep regret…' not happening. phew!"
Twitter has since been abuzz with people responding to Levine's statement. GramercyCellars said "Adam Levine/Maroon5 lashing out at MTV about music is like Capt Crunch lashing out at Kellogs for supporting childrens health food".
"did mtv news post anything about Adam Levine's comment? #doubtful they post about every other insignificant tweet from celebs..." tweeted DJ Brainchild.
