Cape Town- The pop group Eden have announced that they will only be performing together until April for now. Thereafter, the members will all go their separate ways until they reunite at the end of this year.

This does not mean that Eden is splitting up permanently. They plan to release a new album next year.

Lead singer Jay, said on Wednesday that things are simply becoming too much to handle for the three members of the group, and that that they should give themselves some “time to breathe’’.

“You must remember that Eden has been around for 11 years. We have to rest a bit, in the proverbial sense. In the literal sense, we will actually not be resting. I for one will be touring across the country, after releasing my solo album last year.

“In the mean time, Paul Asevedo, Johan Vorster and I will be working on a new Eden album which we would like to release some time next year.  So, we will be apart in as far as physical shows go, but that’s about it.”

Jay’s solo debut, entitled Solo, is headed for Platinum status as sales of the CD’s have reach almost 40 000.

Asevedo said that there will be no permanent split. “Everyone is just going to focus on different projects after April. In fact, we are planning big shows as Eden at the end of the year.”

Eden have been honoured with several music industry awards over the years.
