Johannesburg – Metrorail has announced that it will be running Park & Ride facilities to transport fans to the Metallica concert on Saturday at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

To avoid the hassle of traffic jams and parking worries fans are encouraged to travel by train to the concert which is scheduled to start at 21:00 on Saturday, 27 April.

Three trains have been arranged for fans travelling from Pretoria, Randfontein and Springs directly to Nasrec Station, which is a five minute walk from the FNB stadium.

In addition, two scheduled shuttle trains will operate between Johannesburg Park Station and Nasrec.

Fans can purchase their train tickets at R40.00 per return trip from Metrorail ticket offices at any of the listed stopping stations.

Trains are scheduled to run as follow:

Pretoria - Nasrec:

Train number 2242 will depart from Pretoria Station at 17:30, Centurion – 17:42, Kempton Park – 18:21, Rhodesfield – 18:23, Germiston – 18:45, Johannesburg – 19:07, arriving in Nasrec at 19:37. Departure after concert from Nasrec is from 23:45 and arriving back in Pretoria at 01:53.

Randfontein – Nasrec:

Train 2215/6/7, departing from Randfontein at 17:45, Krugersdorp - 18:00, Roodepoort - 18:18, Florida - 18:25, arriving in Nasrec at 18:58. Departure after concert from Nasrec - Train no 2238/9/40 at 23:55, arriving in Randfontein at 23:55.

Springs – Nasrec:

Train 2212/3 departing from Springs at 17:00, Benoni - 17:23, Germiston - 17:44, Johannesburg - 18:06 arriving in Nasrec at 18:36. Departure after concert from Nasrec Train no 2235/6 at 23:40, arriving in Springs at 01:16.

Johannesburg – Nasrec:

There will be two dedicated train sets shuttling between Johannesburg Park Station and Nasrec. First shuttle train will depart from Johannesburg at 16:45 followed by another at 17:30, 17:59 and 18:44 to Nasrec Station. After the concert, all shuttle trains will return back to Park Station at 00:00 and 01:30.

Commuters are advised to follow and observe the set train travel times for convenience by arriving early at the station. No trains will be provided outside the set times.
