Cape Town - Coldplay's fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto, has achieved Gold status within seven days of it releasing in South Africa. The album, which was released on Monday October, 24 also hit the number one spot on the Musica National Sales Chart within 2 days.
The much anticipated album release comes off the back of two highly successful sold out South African concerts in Johannesburg and Cape Town which saw the band perform in front of a collective crowd of more than 110 000 fans.
While in South Africa Coldplay also filmed the music video for their second single release Paradise. Shot in various locations in SA, the video also includes footage from their concert in Johannesburg.
Limited edition
Mylo Xyloto, released by EMI Music South Africa is available in digital and CD formats. A special limited edition Pop-Up Album version is also available, which will include a 12" x 12" hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A Carter and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band's personal notebooks.
Half of the CDs are packaged with the full colour artwork as the cover while the other half have the CD booklet flipped, showing the silver initials "M X" via a die-cut sheet placed over the colour image.
Mylo Xyloto was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno. The album includes the track Princess of China which features vocals by Rihanna.
