Oppikoppi goes global

Cape Town – Oppikoppi has teamed up with Google+ and YouTube to give fans who can't make it to the event the chance to experience the atmosphere and connect directly with performing musicians.

From 25 July, fans have tuned in for Hangouts on Air with some of their favourite artists, including Jack Parow, aKING and Enter Shikari.

At the festival itself, fans from all over the world can tune in to daily Hangout shows and watch live streams of OppiKoppi's two main stages via the Oppikoppi Google+ Page.

Hosted by Rolling Stone magazine's Miles Keylock, Diane Coetzer and Anton Marshall, and joined by radio diva Michelle Constant, the Hangouts will feature Oppikoppi artists such as AKA, Shadowclub, BLK JKS, The KONGOS, Seether and Vusi Mahlasela.

The lineup for live streamed shows will feature 20 hours of Oppikoppi footage, including the complete performances of HHP, aKING, Vusi Mahlasela and many more.

Dedicated YouTube crews at the event will record all the best of what Oppikoppi has to offer and daily uploads can be seen on Oppikoppi's YouTube channel.

How to join the Hangouts:

1. Enter your details here.

2. Sign up on Google+. If you have a Google or Gmail account, just use that to sign up, or create a new account in a few minutes.

3. Start following Oppikoppi and Rolling Stone to make sure you stay up to date.

4. Install the Google Voice and Video Plugin (it's a small file).

5. Make sure you have a solid internet connection and a working webcam.

Oppikoppi 18, themed Sweet Thing, takes place in Northam, Limpopo from 9 - 11 August.
