This is terrible! The Parlotones are the worst :(

      Adams - 2011-06-15 11:19

No look they not the worst, but they aren't the best either. They have kinda become victims of their own success , in that they are extremely commercialsed these days.

I agree, almost as bad as Coldplay.

  • garethwilliams84 - 2011-06-15 11:20

Awesome, and Parlotones usually charge minimum R120 for a ticket to see them play, now we see them for free..>bonus!!

  • Cicero - 2011-06-15 11:28

Was so hoping for better after the U2 flop opening acts. Why can't we get decent opening acts, we sure paying enough.

  • daaivark - 2011-06-15 11:57

Oh man, I am so sick of these guys. There are hundreds of really great bands here, who deserve the attention a whole lot more, but no.... promoters take the path of least effort and just default to boredom central. This is such a shame.

  • ArtimusPrime - 2011-06-15 12:06

    Seriously, F*ck The Parlotones!

  • FerretGee - 2011-06-15 12:22

Wonder if they will be advertising their wine, KCF and Pick 'n Pay between each song. Parrlotones are flogged to death, it almost makes up for Coldplay not coming to KZN now that their supporting act has been announced, culdnt bear standing through a 45 minute Parlotone set. (Oh and Khan, lose the loud hailer dude, R.E.M. were using one when you were in nappies.

      daaivark - 2011-06-15 13:14

God, even my band satirised REM by using a sawn off coke bottle in the 80s. This is so OLD!! Not an innovative hair on any of their heads.

  • Vlooi2008 - 2011-06-15 12:44

I love the Parlotones! I think they are one of the best South African bands EVER! Sorry Hater's!!!

      daaivark - 2011-06-15 13:14

No it's fine Vlooitjie. My condolences.

  • Ollie - 2011-06-15 12:54

Great well done - deserving band - love their music

  • ashtakesknight@24.com - 2011-06-15 13:06

    argh no...

  • Jason - 2011-06-15 13:31

OMG its like the Parlotones are the only good band in SA. They are everywhere. Dont get me wrong, I think they are a great band and all, but seriously how predictable can you get. Freshly Ground or The Parlotones...those were our choices.

  • Viv - 2011-06-15 13:38

But we read last week that The Arrows from Durban were chosen as the supporting act? Or did I get my wires crossed?? Blegh that these chumps are opening for Coldplay. Well as least I dot have to rush to the FNB now as I dont really care for the 'musicians'.

      Jean - 2011-06-15 14:21

Why the Hate?Awesome band with plenty of great songs...well deserved

  • Chad Norman - 2011-06-15 14:36

Oh good lord. The parlotones are the suckiest, most generic, most "sell out" piece of crap band in SA today. We have so many good new up and coming bands. Why oh why would these a$$-munchers be chosen. I really think Big Concerts need to pay more attention to what the fans want. But then again, why should they. They've shown just how much of a crap they give about the people who attend their concerts in the past. Can we bring a few rotten tomatoes into the stadium to pelt them with?

      FerretGee - 2011-06-15 16:16

Big Concerts have no competition and hence they do waht thye want. They bypass Durban for evey top act on the premise the KZN doesn't support internatinal music or wait till the last minute to buy tickets. They cite last years failure of The Beach Boys and Duran Duran (brought by another promoter) which were cancelled. Duh.. who wants to see has-beens anyway! Neil Diamonf sold out the Oses Mabhida stadium! so their argument falls flat! There are plenty of other great SA bands who could have been support act but, similar to the mainstream radio stations they force feed their audience this "popular" crap and make them pay for it.

      FerretGee - 2011-06-15 16:19

Apologies for the spelling.. happens when I get annoyed!

  • smh - 2011-06-15 15:20

yay!!! This is the best news EVER!!

      FerretGee - 2011-06-15 16:10

You must be VERY easily pleased..

  • justus.cilliers - 2011-06-20 07:34

The Parla-moans Suck !!! There are so many bands in SA that would have been much better for the event. Big Concerts is just lazy to explore other options.

  • Daemos1 - 2011-06-21 17:38

2 sucky bands in 1 place, no thanks

  • Gabrielle - 2011-08-12 12:53

If not the Parlotones, then who? Is there another band "good enough" to open for Coldplay? I've been waiting years to see Coldplay, and no-one, not even Khan, is gonna spoil it for me!
