Pixies release first new music in 22 years

New York – After their breakup in 1993 and a brief reunion in 2004, the Pixies are back with a new album, or rather EP, for the first time in 22 years.

On Tuesday, the band released a 4-song EP, titled EP1, as well as a brand new video for the song Indie Cindy.

The release of their EP comes almost 2 months after the band teased fans with a new track, BagBoy. According to the band, EP1 is the first in a series of mini-releases they plan to release sporadically over the next 15 months.

This is also the first music to be released without founding member and bassist Kim Deal, who quit the band earlier in the year. Deal was replaced by The Muffs and The Pandoras guitarist and vocalist Kim Shattuck. Other band members include Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar) and David Lovering (drums).

The Pixies are best known for hits such as Where Is My Mind? and Gigantic from the album Surfer Rosa (1988), as well as Monkey Gone To Heaven off their 1989 studio album Doolittle.

The 4-track EP is available on the Pixies website.
