Procol Harum cancel SA shows

Cape Town – Big Concerts announced on Wednesday that UK band Procol Harum will not be performing in South Africa after the lead singer sustained an injury in Cape Town.

Lead singer Gary Brooker took a fall in Cape Town late on Tuesday and is in a serious but stable condition, according to Big Concerts.

Details of his injury were not disclosed but Big Concerts said that the extent of his injuries was "severe".

Big Concerts' CEO Attie van Wyk said, "Our thoughts are with Gary and the band during this difficult time. We are confident that he is receiving the very best medical attention and we wish him a speedy recovery".

Procol Harum were due to perform on the British Invasion Tour of South Africa which will continue with The Moody Blues and special guests 10cc.

Procol Harum formed in 1967 and contributed to the development of progressive rock and symphonic rock. They are best known for their song A Whiter Shade Of Pale.
