Pretoria – Previous OppiKoppi headliner Billy Talent will be coming back on 24 August for the first ever OppiKoppi after party, The Post aKOPPilyptic Punk Picnic. The Canadian band was in SA last in 2010 for OppiKoppi and other one night gigs around the country.
Billy Talent wanted to play at the main Bewilderbeast festival, but had a conflicting tour schedule, according to SA Music Scene. The after party, a first in OppiKoppi history, will be hosted at The Pretoria Botanical Gardens with picnics in the afternoon and the Red Flag band in the evening.
The band has had much success in their home country, having won 21 Canadian music awards in total since they broke out from the underground indie music scene. Their latest album Dead Silence came out at the end of last year, which they have been promoting on Van’s Warped Tour before heading off to play at a few European festivals.
The Post aKOPPilyptic tickets are R450 to non-Bewilderbeast festivalgoers and those with a festival ticket only have to pay R350. You will be able to buy Bewilderbeast merchandise, retrieve lost and found items and can use up any OppiKoppi cashcards leftover.
