RHCP fans angry at Computicket

Cape Town – Red Hot Chili Peppers fans have expressed their anger at Computicket after Golden Circle and General Admission tickets for Cape Town sold out just minutes after sales opened at 09:00 on Thursday.

Fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger at Computicket who, in their view, failed to make their Red Hot Chili Peppers dream come true.

Jolene de Lange tweeted the following: "The biggest disappointment of my life. Second in the que for #rhcp and I only get standing tickets! Screw #computicket (sic)"

PR executive Onikca van der Sandt tried her luck at a Computicket outlet Big Bay, but was left fuming when the system crashed. "@BigConcerts systems are down at counters! When will you learn? @Computicket is and NEVER will be good enough to handle the numbers #Bleak," she tweeted.

According to tech writer Arthur Goldstuck, Computicket's Facebook page is "a case study in social media disaster. #RHCP complaints flood in, but can't respond".

Some fans also expressed anger over the fact that tickets are limited to 20 per person in Cape Town.

Jennifer Gregory said on Computicket's Facebook page: "How can computicket allow people to buy 20 at a time. Seriously not fare. Something must be done about that. Really not cool. And I've been waiting since 7 and now I can only get general admission. How's that?????? (sic)"

Thursday's ticket disaster comes after pre-sale tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg opened via the band's website on Monday, with many fans expressing concern over the amount of tickets that will be left for purchase when official ticket sales opened.

Some fans also noted that Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets were being offered by resellers on Gumtree - at massive mark-ups - just minutes after they were sold out at Computicket.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will be performing in South Africa on Saturday, 2 February at the Soccer City Complex, FNB Stadium, Johannesburg and on Tuesday, 5 February at Cape Town Stadium.
