Cape Town - Dance crew Reptilez proved that they are the best in the country after they won the Red Bull Beat Battle in front of a 1500 strong crowd at Bassline in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The final duel was a heated affair with Reptilez facing off against flamboyant crew V.I.N.T.A.G.E.

"It's unbelievable, it feels like we're dreaming! Our aim was to make the final and it was great that we had the crowd on our side," the winners told Redbull.co.za

Artistic Intelligence, the dance crew holding the 2011 title, was also part of this year's eight finalists.

Country's best performers

The crowd was treated to the best local talent by some of country's best performers - including Big Nuz , Black Motion, Pro and a special live band performance from kwaito group TKZee.

The winning crew will get an opportunity to tour the country as Red Bull Beat Battle winners and give dance workshops. They will also be jetting off to Brazil to witness the international final of Red Bull BC One.

Artistic Intelligence, Hlaks, Ninja Turtles, Phly Nation, Real Actions Juniors and Soulistic Fusion were the other crews that took part in the final.

The eight crews specialise in various styles from hip hop to pantsula and everything in between.
