Cape Town - While Justin Bieber's neighbours are seeing red over his antics, his last-minute South African make-up artist Kirsti van Zyl described him as "sweet".
Van Zyl landed the coveted job to powder the Canadian pop star's nose on the eve of his packed show at the Cape Town Stadium last month.
Van Zyl said she couldn't comment on the circumstances which led to her last-minute appointment by the 19-year-old singer due to contractual obligations.
"He had a beautiful skin," she said.
"I literally only used concealer under his eyes and a bit of powder for glow. It was pretty standard."
Kept a ginger kitten backstage
This week, the Daily Mail reported that Bieber's neighbours in a gated community in Calabasas, Los Angeles, are up in arms over his "bad behaviour". He reportedly upset them with noisy house parties and reckless driving.
Meanwhile, Mally, Bieber's pet monkey, who was confiscated by customs officials before a recent gig in Munich, Germany, will be adopted by a German nature reserve.
There were no monkeys to be seen at the singer's shows in Cape Town and at FNB Stadium in Joburg, but Van Zyl said Bieber kept a ginger kitten backstage.
She added that there was a "huge buzz" in the wings while Bieber took to the stage, entertaining thousands of yelping South African fans. "But people were quite aware of the kitten, it never got hurt."
Van Zyl hopes the high-profile make-up job will open doors for her in the industry. "It was the experience of a lifetime, I was so lucky. People do take me more seriously when they hear this."
The 25-year-old brunette formerly co-ordinated events at the upmarket Beluga Restaurant in Cape Town, where Prince Harry donned a fedora to celebrate the 21st birthday of his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy back in 2006.
