Johannesburg – Frans van Wyk has been voted the winner in this year’s Sanlam Sing 'it lyric writing competition.
Sanlam Sing ‘it lyric writing finalist Frans van Wyk had no idea that Straatligkinders would rock up at his house to surprise him with the news that his lyric for Plaasvervanger had been voted the winner in this year’s Sanlam Sing ‘it lyric writing competition making him R50 000 richer.
As part of the grand prize, Straatligkinders will also produce a music video of the winning song. Frans will get the opportunity to make a cameo appearance in the video, which will be aired exclusively on MTV (DStv channel 130) early next year
Almost 40 000 Facebook fans casted their votes for their favourite Sing ‘it song. LitNet and Sanlam invited South Africans over the age of 18 to submit their lyrics for top South African artists AKA, The Soil, BlackByrd and Straatligkinders.
Four finalists Frans van Wyk, Nothando Zungo, Beulah Harris and Giovanni Coetzee had to battle it out for the grand prize.
