Cape Town – Grammy award-winning musician Carlos Santana is heading to South Africa to perform four shows early next year, Big Concerts announced late on Thursday.
Big Concerts shared Santana’s Facebook status which read as follows: "From Team Santana: We are very happy to announce that Santana will be playing in South Africa for the first time. Carlos & the band will playing at the Grand Arena in Cape Town on February 25, 26, and 27 and at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on March 1. Ticket and concert info will be announced later this week. We will see you all there!"
Carlos Santana, 66, became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music.
He has won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards and made the number 20 spot on Rolling Stones’s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003.
Santana is well known for hits such as Smooth, co-written and sung by Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, Maria Maria and collaboration with Everlast, Put Your Lights On.
