Sing 'it songs available for download

Cape Town – The winners for the Sing 'it competition, which was launched by Sanlam and LitNet in September last year, has recently been announced.

The nine local songwriters, up till now unknown, will be receiving great exposure as the public vote for their songs by downloading them from the internet.

For the competition, nine of the country’s top singers and bands invited South Africans to enter their lyrics for selection, composition and possible recording by the artists, and now the bands have chosen their winning songs from more than 1 600 entries.

Each winner receives R3 000 in cash and an iPad 2, and has the honour of having his or her song recorded by the artist/band who selected it.

All nine songs will be available for free download until March 12 on the Sing 'it website. The song that is downloaded the most will receive a music budget from MK, and the lyricist will have the opportunity to feature in the video.

The winning lyrics are from:

Bruno Andries (Knysna) entered Bonnie and Clyde, chosen for recording by Karen Zoid.

Natascha Swart (Centurion) entered A silent memory, chosen for recording by DJ Cleo.
