Soundgarden set to tour

Los Angeles - Seattle rock band Soundgarden has announced that they would tour North America for the first time in almost 15 years during the summer.

The first four dates are Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on July 2; Philadelphia's Festival Pier at Penn's Landing on July 13; Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 18; and Los Angeles' Forum on July 22.

More dates will be added in the coming weeks, according to a statement. Tickets start going on sale on Monday.

Soundgarden, one of the leading lights of the "grunge" revolution in the early 1990s, is working on its first studio album since 1996's Down on the Upside. The band broke up early the following year amid internal tensions.

It announced a reunion on January 1, 2010, but played just three full-length shows last year. Singer Chris Cornell has just started a sold-out solo acoustic tour that will keep him on the road through May 6.
