The Lumineers admit they are in love with SA!

Cape Town – The Lumineers have only been in South Africa for three days but they have already fallen in love with our beautiful country!

How do we know this? Channel24 had the amazing opportunity to attend a press conference with the band ahead of their first show in SA tonight at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town.

The band – which consist of Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites, Neyla Pekarek, Stelth Ulvang and Ben Wahamaki – revealed that they have already been on safari and Jeremiah has already climbed Lion's Head. "We’ve been treated so well and to so many things since our arrival," says Wesley.

"Yep, we love South Africa so far, everyone is so friendly, Europe can take a backseat!" says Stelth.

Having built up a fan base across the globe with their hit song Ho Hey, the band has had some pretty memorable shows and experiences. And these shows in SA will be some of their biggest to date.

"These three shows will be the last three of the last three years of touring. We're just going to give it our all and savour every moment," says Wesley.

We asked the band what the one thing is they never tour without. This is what they revealed:

Stelth never tours without two little Bluetooth speakers so he can listen to music anywhere anytime.

The beautiful Neyla always tours with stationary and stamps so she can send letters to friends from her current location.

Wesley always tours with a very old hat. He actually packs the hat within two other hats to protect it from getting more damaged.

Jeremiah likes to keep it simple. As long as he has his black hat, a white t-shirt, his black suspenders and of course his passport, he’s ready to go!

For Ben, clothes and a good book are all the essentials he needs.

The Lumineers also revealed their favourite photo on their Instagram account: a setlist covered in blood from a performance at a festival. Apparently Wesley and Jeremiah both had sinus infections, and Jeremiah also had pink eye. There were no mics, or amps and people were busy on their phones while the band was playing. According to Jeremiah, it was the best show ever!

Sxsw - ahhh, memories.

And when will they be bringing out a new album? "One day!" says Jeremiah.
