London - The Rolling Stones have been nominated in four categories at the 2013 NME Awards.
The legendary rockers - made up of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - are up for Best Live Band, Best Book, Music Moment of The Year and Best Music Film, and are absolutely thrilled with the nominations.
Mick said: "It's very nice to be nominated. When I first heard it was four things, I thought, 'Ooh, blimey! That's very nice!'" And it's not a journalists-only thing, it's not a coterie of closely-knit people choosing.
"It's funny, because when we were rehearsing at Wembley arena last year, it was where we used to do the NME Pollwinners. We remembered, it was the first time we ever played Jumping Jack Flash at one of those Pollwinners concerts!"
Tame Impala (Best International Band, Best Album, Best Track and Best Music Video), Haim (Best New Band, Best Track, Best Music Video, Best Twitter) and M.I.A. (Best Track, Best Music Video, Best Dancefloor Anthem, Best Twitter), also lead the nominations with four nods.
One Direction's Harry Styles and British Prime Minister David Cameron will fight it out for Villain Of The Year alongside Psy, Skrillex, Fred Macpherson and Azealia Banks while David Bowie, Bradley Wiggins, Pussy Riot, US President Barack Obama, Frank Ocean and Dave Grohl are all up for Hero Of The Year.
The NME Awards will take place on Wednesday 27 February at its brand new home, The Troxy in East London.
