The West Coast's brand new rock festival

2015-10-06 19:00

Cape Town - Grab your surfboards, flip-flops and sunscreen as Malkop Festival invites all to witness 26 of South Africa's most talented acts (including rock royalty Koos Kombuis, Valiant Swart and Arno Carstens) in one of our country's most beautiful regions.

This exciting new event runs from 4 to 5 December just outside of the small fishing town Lambert's Bay at the Malkoppan Guest Farm, giving holiday goers and festival fundis an excellent excuse to visit the West Coast and bask in all its glory while listening to the best rock tunes Mzansi has to offer.

The two-day line-up has been carefully curated to offer locals and travellers a wide variety of rock, folk and blues acts, ranging from veteran rock 'n rollers to fresh upcoming bands. The MC, a self-proclaimed party-pirate of the West Coast, Ruan Scott, will be keeping our Malkoppe entertained and informed with his authentic Weskus-hospitality.

Aside from the stellar line-up, Malkop will also host the launch of West Coast Breweries (a proudly local craft beer) and a big surfing competition in association with Kumba Iron Ore, Reef and Billabong.

Those lucky enough to grab hold of a weekend pass will be treated to a delicious buffet (lunch or dinner) at the famous open-air restaurant, Muisbosskerm, which is situated right on the beach and a stone's throw away from the festival grounds. The event is family-friendly (even for your four-legged members) and the camping grounds are situated a mere 100m from the beach.

Within a 5km radius of Lambert's Bay are five of the best kept secret surf spots on the West Coast and the town itself has a wide range of sights and activities like Bird Island and the dunes (one of the smallest deserts in the world). So grab your lover, your neighbour, your friend or your mother-in-law and head to the best coast for a weekend full of kreef, good beer, quality music and great company!
