Tupac hoax causes Twitter buzz

New York – Tongues are wagging on Facebook and Twitter about the news that rapper Tupac Shakur is "alive and well" in New Zealand, reports Huffington Post.

Tupac died in Las Vegas in 1996 after he was shot and killed. He was shot after he attended a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon.

The rumours that he is still alive were fanned by a fake PBS article.

PBS web journalist Teresa Gorman on Sunday squashed rumours on Twitter trying to explain that the article was false and that their site was hacked.

The Lulz Boat has said they are responsible for hacking the website and spreading the rumour.

They also spread PBS network passwords on Twitter.
