U2 unveil first new song in 3 years

Los Angeles - U2 have unveiled their first new song in three years.

The Irish band's long-awaited comeback track, entitled Ordinary Love, features in the trailer for the new Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

The song was written specifically for the film and is also rumoured to feature on the With or Without You hitmakers' next album.

The anthem features lyrics such as "The sea wants to kiss the golden shore / The sunlight wants our skin / All the beauty that's been lost before / Wants to find us again /

"We can't fall any further / If we can't feel ordinary love / We cannot reach any higher / If we can't feel ordinary love."

Release date

U2 are currently working on their new album, speculatively titled 10 Reasons to Exist, which is scheduled for an early 2014 release.

Adam Clayton, the band's bassist, recently revealed they were trying to get the new tracks "absolutely right" before Christmas.

He said: "I think it's a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It's a combination of those two things and it's a really interesting hybrid.

"We're in the studio. We're trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas."
