Up The Creek 2013 kicks off

Cape Town – The Up The Creek music festival kicks off at the Breede River in Swellendam on Thursday night.

Up the Creek 2013, which takes place from 31 January to 3 February, will be hosting live music on three stages throughout the weekend, namely The 4th Street Main Stage, the MK river stage and the late night Rolling Stone stage. A new stage, the BOS acoustic river stage, has also been added this year to keep things flowing between sets.

Up The Creek organiser Annie Sowden from Red Hot Events told Channel24: "Things are looking fantastic, we are very excited about the weekend. We bring you more of what has made Up the Creek so special through the years and have also added a few surprises. Great vibe, great line up, here we go Up the Creek 2013!"

"Tonight we're kicking off with Saint Fearless, The Swingsetters, ISO, Piet Botha and the Lizard Kings and Tombstone Pete and Dave Ferguson at the Rolling Stone stage," said Up The Creek spokesperson Liny Kruger.

Kruger told Channel24 that temperatures are expected to reach 35°C on Friday, but warns that it can get a bit chilly at night, so be sure to bring something warm for the evenings.

Another highlight to look forward to is Up the Creek's Tribute to Women, which is happening on Friday night on The 4th Street Main Stage featuring SAARKIE, Tailor, Machineri, Karen Zoid and BEAST.

"And don't forget the Lilo Anything That Floats Competition on Saturday morning, the first prize is worth R6500," Kruger added.

Other bands that will be performing over the weekend include The Mysticcs, Good Night Wembley, Long Time Citizen, Lucy Kruger, No One's Arc, YOAV, Peachy Keen, Jeremy Loops, December Streets, Desmond and the Tutus and Black Cat Bone.
