Cape Town - The renowned Watoto Children’s Choir consisting of children who have benefited from Watoto orphans' charity will present a "Concert of Hope" in Sea Point, Cape Town.
The choir will perform at the unveiling of the expansion of the Watoto model of caring for women and orphaned children into Southern Africa.
Watoto is an holistic care programme that was initiated as a response to the overwhelming number of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Africa, whose lives have been ravaged by war, poverty and disease – particularly HIV/AIDs.
Watoto Founder, Gary Skinner said: "We are very excited about this expansion and look forward to partnering with long-term friends, who are as passionate about community transformation as we are. It has long been a dream of ours to see the Watoto model replicated across our beloved continent so as to accelerate the rescue of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Africa."
The unveling of the model expansion plan will take place at 30 Main Road, Sea Point, Cape Town on May 1, 2011.
The Watoto choir has performed for several special events and dignitaries including the Queen of England at Buckingham Palace, at the White House in the USA, various parliaments including those of Australia, Scotland and Canada as well as at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland.
They have been touring through various parts of South Africa since February 2011 as a precursor to the main launch event.
