We had a few beers with Fokofpolisiekar and man it was good

Cape Town - It’s a festive Friday (12 December) in the office and everywhere everyone is bragging about their holiday plans. Merely a few hours separate some of my colleagues from sunny beaches and overcrowded family filled holiday homes.

But not me. I’m one of the lucky ones (my editor-in-chief might be reading this) that get to come back to work on Monday. Who else will be keeping up with the Kardashians over the Christmas season?

While licking my wounds a call comes from the front desk.

“There’s someone at reception for you.”

Lo and behold. It’s the Fokofpolisiekar boys.  With a cooler box. Filled with their new beer. For us to taste, drink and be merry.

It’s a match made in heaven. Fokofpolisiekar and craft beer. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?

A lekker “somer-plesiertjie” they call it. The perfect drink to quench your summer thirst.

The band teamed up with Sir Thomas Brewing Co to launch four different craft beers.

We were lucky enough to get a taste of the first in the series, a 440ml ‘Blonde Ale’ called Dagdronk (directly translated as Day Drunk).

Who would have thought that one day I’d be sitting sipping beer with Hunter and Snake on a Friday afternoon in the office?

And fuck it tastes good. Proudly homemade with a slight pineapple undertone the beer is as South African as the iconic band themselves. Once you’re done with your beer there is only one thing left to say; “Nóg een, asseblief”.

Dagdronk will only be sold per box at a cost of R640 per box consisting of 16 beers.  The cost includes delivery everywhere in South Africa.

Order yours HERE right now. (I already ordered mine. Guess what my friends are getting for Christmas!)
