We had a quickie with local hottie Loki!

Cape Town - Born in Cape Town, Loki Rothman burst on to the scene with his debut single Light These Fires in March 2013.

The single climbed the local radio charts all over SA. Charting on various radio stations, Light These Fires reached the top 3 on the Highveld/KFM TAKE40SA Chart and no 1 on the Bokradio top 40 to name a few.

Over the years he got well known as a guitarist with his unique finger style and percussive features. He also developed a skill for song writing and producing music.

He is currently working side by side with SAMA award winning producer Justin De Nobrega and has co produced and co written music for artists such as Jack Parow, Toya Delazy, Die Antwoord, and many more.

We had a quickie with Loki. A Channel24 quickie is a brief or spontaneous episode consisting of five frisky questions in which celebs and Channel24 have a brief frolic leaving all parties involved feeling satisfied and craving a cigarette.

Describe your music to someone who has never heard your perform before.

It would be a mix of pop, contemporary, acoustic and a touch of EDM but at the same time trying to keep the instrumentation organic,. My latest single "See The Light" has a touch of EDM but It's still a mix of organic instruments like acoustic guitar and piano to create the sound. I never force it, but when possible I incorporate my percussive acoustic guitar style with my songwriting and production.

You’re a singer, guitarist, music producer and song writer. Which of these are your favourite?

Tough question.  Gun to my head I would say music producer. Although I spend a lot more time behind a guitar than producing music. There's nothing like getting up on stage and performing, then again it's also the most amazing feeling hearing a final master of a track you wrote and produced from nothing.

You’ve travelled a lot in your music career. In which of the cities you visited did you have the best music experience?

The best music experience I would say Holland. I was touring with Jack Parow there recently and had some crazy shows. The people/crowds were awesome and so hungry for music and a great show.

If you could collaborate with any living music icon who would it be and why?

Definitely Coldplay. I've been following Coldplay for many years. It's amazing how they reinvent themselves on every album. The songwriting, production and live shows are just on another level.

Tell us one juicy secret nobody knows about you.

At times a bit of a hygienic/germ freak. Can't handle getting the flu or being sick. It's such a waste of time lying in bed waiting to recover when I could be making music. Grateful for everyday I'm able to do that though.
