Cape Town – If you’re keen for some music this week and don’t know what’s happening, then look no further!

Instead of only bringing you a weekend gig guide, we decided to start a weekly gig guide. This is our first attempt, so please bear with us! The next one will go up early next week. If you have an event you would like us to feature please e-mail us: Music@channel24.co.za.

CAPE TOWN


Thursday 15 January

1) SA Music Scene presents Thursday Live ft Peasant & more
Go down to The Assembly for some hardcore tunes with Peasant, Take Hand, Crossfire Collision & Ohgod! It starts at 21:00 and R30 gets you in before 22:00. Click here for more info.



2) Bluestown 2015 presents Richard Pryor, Nhoza Sitsholwana, Jesse Jordan, Doc John, Wayne Pauli, Riaan Smit plus more

Friday 16 January

1) Honda Presents: Dean Fuel & Chris Jack

2) Ernie Ball presents The String Collective Vol 5!
Celebrating 6 of Cape Town's top guitarists, the show will feature each of them performing 3 songs. The beautiful Slave Church Museum will host the evening. Artists set to perform include Steve Newman, Nick Turner - Sons of Trout, Lucy Kruger, Gary Thomas, Hands in Pockets and Dave Baudains (JHB) - New Academics. Show starts at 20:30 and R60 gets you in. 4) Coda Africa at Cafe Roux in Noordhoek
Fronted by vocalist Zami Mdingi, CODA Africa combines electric strings (violin and cello by Galina Juritz and Carol Thorns) with saxophone (Judy Brown) and DJ (DJ LuvChild). Their music traverses different genres from Classically-inspired ballads to Electro-Swing, Dub Step, Reggae and Hip Hop. Tickets cost R80 and it starts at 20:00. Saturday 17 January

1) The Assembly Presents: Red Huxley, Black Math (KZN) & Momentss
Saturday, we turn up the volume for a Rock n Roll showcase ft some of Cape Town's hottest live acts: Red Huxley, Black Math (KZN) & Momentss. R40 gets you in before 22:00 and R50 after. Click here for more info.
