Cape Town - It’s an illusion, or is it? Leading local promoter, Showtime Management announced on Tuesday that after record breaking runs in New York, London and Asia, The Illusionists Direct from Broadway will be in South Africa for the first time ever.
The show will be opening at GrandWest on Wednesday, 07 February 2018 for a limited season ending on Sunday, 11 February 2018. The show then moves to Montecasino’s Teatro from Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, 14 February to Sunday, 11 March 2018.
This mind blowing spectacular showcases the jaw dropping talents of seven of the most incredible illusionists on earth. The Illusionists have shattered box office records across the globe and dazzled audiences of all ages with a powerful mix of the most outrageous and astonishing acts ever to be seen on stage. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.
Audiences will witness stunning acts of grand illusion, levitation, mindreading, and disappearance. This group of world class performers take their cue from the showmanship of the great illusionists of the past such as Harry Houdini and pair it with a new and updated contemporary aesthetic, whose set and costumes design lend the genre theatricality and artistry that has rarely been seen before. Collectively these performers have been seen by millions of people around the world and this production showcases their incredible talents together on stage for the very first time.
Critics and audiences across the globe stare with jaw-dropping amazement. With the conclusion of the 2016 - 2017 season The Illusionists Direct from Broadway holds the record as the highest grossing show in a single week at the Marquis and Neil Simon Theatres (Broadway), the Shaftesbury Theatre (West End), the Sydney Opera House (Sydney, AUS), the Arts Centre Melbourne (Melbourne, AUS), and the Auditorio Nacional (Mexico City, MEX). Creative producer Simon Painter said, "Everyone at The Illusionists is thrilled to be coming to South Africa. 2017 proved to be an amazing year for the production and we are excited to keep that momentum going."
