Ice Cube thanks family as N.W.A are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Los Angeles - Ice Cube thanked his family for making "everything normal" for him as he and N.W.A were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night.

Addressing his wife Kimberly Woodruff and their children, he said: "You guys make everything normal for me."

Dr Dre also praised his mother for keeping him on the "straight and narrow" and his wife for "saving my life"

He added: "There's no way we'd be on this stage right now with N.W.A. being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without him, the late Eric ''Eazy-E'' Wright."

The group - which also includes D.J. Yella and MC Ren - was introduced by Kendrick Lamar at the ceremony.

He said: "But as you know the history, a lot of people said it was too gangster. It was too much for them.

"But for me, it was honest. So I'm going to put it like this. Being gangster symbolises a hustle that you can change your reality. The true meaning of gangster, being able to show what it takes to be the world's biggest music group ...

"Being gangster is breaking out to become a movie star, a movie producer, and having your own son play you as a retrospect to your career, Straight Outta Compton ...

"Being gangster is partnering with the biggest tech companies and launching groundbreaking music on a whole other platform. So now after 30 years of being heard, being gangster is being inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Ladies and gentleman, without further ado, my good homies, N.W.A! What's up!"
