Cape Town – South African musicians have taken to social media to pay tribute to accordionist and songwriter, Nico Carstens.
Nico, who will be remembered for his massive contribution to the SA music industry, died on Tuesday at the age of 90.
Many local musicians have taken to social media to pay tribute to Nico.
In a touching post on Facebook, Afrikaans singer Valiant Swart tells the story of how he met Nico and says that "he played the accordion with such an instinctive, irresistible touch; it was like the notes and the tunes and the hooks just came shimmering off his fingers".
