Mariah Carey demands Table Mountain changes colour

Cape Town – A source has exclusively revealed to Channel24 that Mariah Carey is indeed living up to her diva status.

Mariah, who arrived in the Mother City on Monday afternoon, is reportedly demanding that Table Mountain changes colour.

The We Belong Together singer wants Table Mountain’s lights to be switched on and shine purple during her performance.

There are currently negotiations underway with the City of Cape Town to make this happen.

Another source revealed that Mariah wants the lights to be a tribute to singer Prince who unexpectedly died last week.

According to a report by The Mercury Table Mountain's floodlights can be turned on in cases where the cause is of “particular cultural, historical or traditional significance for the people of Cape Town or South Africa”.

All requests must be filed 20 working days in advance.

The source also revealed that Mariah is insisting on coconut water from a specific region, which she apparently did not specify on her rider before she arrived.

Mariah's previous demands at other international concerts included bizarre requests like having 20 white kittens and 100 white doves backstage with her.

Mariah's Cape Town concert kicks off at the Cape Town stadium tonight before she heads to Durban for the second leg of her SA tour.

Big Concerts revealed on their Facebook page that the final stage set-up in Cape Town is well underway.
