Michael Bublé cancels gigs due to vocal cord surgery

New York - Michael Bublé is cancelling upcoming events due to pending vocal cord surgery.

The singer said on his website on Wednesday that after surgery, he'll be required to take time to rest and recover. He said there will be "no talking or singing" for some time, but that a full recovery is expected.

He didn't say when the surgery would take place.

Bublé wrote that he will not be able to perform at the 5 June tribute concert to Marvin Gaye at John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

He wrote: "Thank you in advance for your prayers and good wishes. I'll keep you up to date on my progress."

The 40-year-old Bublé has released multi-platinum-selling albums and his hits include Haven't Met You Yet.
