Mos Def 'world passport' case postponed again

Cape Town – US hip hop artist and actor Yasiin Bey, better known by his former stage name, Mos Def, was back in court on Thursday.

The artist, born Dante Terrell Smith, was arrested in January after he attempted to leave Cape Town by producing an unrecognised “world passport”.

The 42-year-old is currently free on bail of R5 000.

Bey’s legal team, during a brief court appearance on Thursday, requested more time so they can “seek further particulars and make representations to the director general of Home Affairs”.

The case has been postponed to 12 May.

Bey refused to comment or talk to media outside the Bellville Magistrate's Court.
