Opening act announced for +LIVE+ on their SA reunion tour

Cape Town - Newly-formed alt rockers The Sweet Resistance have been confirmed to open for +LIVE+ in South Africa next month.

Formed in Cape Town, The Sweet Resistance have seen 3 singles off their debut album playlisted on 5FM this year. Feel was at #1 on the 5FM SA Top30 and the follow-up Captivated went straight to #1 on the Top 10 at 10. They received critical acclaim after opening for Pixies in Johannesburg earlier this year.

"We’ve been blessed with an incredible 2017 - and now to wrap it up by touring with +LIVE+ is a dream come true," says lead singer Tash Meister.

Presented by AMP Events, the show promises to feature all the highlights from +LIVE+’s incredible 25-year repertoire. +LIVE+ will be the first international musical act to grace the brand-new stage at the opening of Sun International’s Sun Arena at Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria. They’ll perform there on 10 and 11 November and in Cape Town’s Grand Arena on 7 November.

"+LIVE+ is one of the greatest alt rock acts of our time and their fan base here in South Africa is second to none," says AMP CEO Andy Mac. "All 3 shows are almost sold out! Now with the inclusion of the Sweet Resistance we’re in for an incredible tour."

The original line-up of +LIVE+ - Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer(bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion) recently reunited for this worldwide tour.

2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Mental Jewelry (released 31 December 1991). The multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums (Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi). Their catalogue is filled with such gems as Lightning Crashes, I Alone, All Over You, and Lakini’s Juice, which live on today as classics at rock radio.

The original line-up of +LIVE+ performed their last show in July 2009 before going off in different directions. Rediscovering their friendship has healed old differences, setting the stage for the four members to come together to make music again.
