Rocker Scott Weiland found dead

Los Angeles - Scott Weiland has been found dead on his tour bus age 48.

The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman was touring with his group Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts when he was discovered at around 21:00 on Thursday night, according to TMZ.

The rockers were due to play a gig at the Medina Ballroom in Minnesota on Thursday night but the show was cancelled.

Scott has struggled with substance abuse in the past but it's not yet clear what caused his death.

Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro took to his Twitter account to reveal he was "gutted" about the news.

He wrote: "Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight"

Weiland's Velvet Revolver bandmate, guitarist Dave Kushner, tweeted shortly after Navarro "RIP Scott Weiland."

As well as his career as a singer for Stone Temple Pilots and supergroup Velvet Revolver, Scott also released four albums as a solo artist.
