Shaun Jacobs Band to launch new album in Cape Town this week

Cape Town –The Shaun Jacobs Band have been hard at work in studio recording their new album, Kaleidoscope, released in early 2016, and on the strength of the new material have just signed a management deal in LA.

Ahead of the Sama winning rock band’s album launch at Café Roux this week, we got to ask frontman Shaun a few questions.

Check it out here:

Chanenl24: You’re playing Café Roux this week, what can people expect from your set?
Shaun: We always have a blast at Cafe Roux. It's a special little venue that has an amazing atmosphere, and we always can't help but give it full throttle when we're on stage! We'll be playing a lot of material from the new album Kaleidoscope which we're very excited about.

C24: What is the most absurd or funniest thing that has ever happened at one of your gigs?
Shaun: We've had some interesting experiences. One of our favourites is the first night we opened for Nickelback in The Dome in Joburg. We'd had such a quick setup and soundcheck, and in the rush Andrew's drum hardware wasn't secured properly. Through the first few songs Andrew's cymbals kept falling down when he hit them, and the best part is we have it all on video; it looks like Andrew is living out one of those bad dreams where stuff just won't work properly, except it was in front of 15000 people.

C24: What’s the one thing that no knows about you?
Shaun: I don't think we have many secrets. I think we're pretty family oriented and we're quite low-key people off stage. Not really that rock'n roll but that's who we are!

C24: If you could collaborate with any artist in the world, who would it be and why?
Shaun:  I'd probably still say Coldplay. They we're a major influence on us as young musicians and I think it would be a great experience to see how they think in putting music together.

C24: Beef or Chicken?
Both!

C24: Perfect holiday destination?
Shaun: Somewhere sunny and happy with a beach!

C24: Your best pick up line ever?
Shaun: The only time I tried one I had a bogey hanging out my nose so the pick up line is not the thing I remember!

C24: What`s next for you?
Shaun: We're playing some shows in SA around the launch of the album, and then we'll be heading off to the States to play some shows and spend some time there.
