Song by local singer Alice Phoebe Lou gets shortlisted for an Oscar


Cape Town – South African singer Alice Phoebe Lou announced that one of her songs has been shortlisted for Best Original Song at the upcoming Academy Awards.

Alice took to her Facebook page on Wednesday to share the awesome news. She wrote: "My song 'She' has been shortlisted for best original song for the upcoming Oscars! The song is in an incredible documentary called Bombshell, about the life of Hedy Lamarr. Ohhhh myyyyy! Gonna be releasing the studio version of She on the 23rd of Feb! (sic)"

The song is one of 70 on the shortlist of which five will get nominations for an Oscar. (Click here to see the full list of shortlisted songs.)

Last week it was also announced that the South African film The Wound was one of nine to make the Oscar shortlist in the category for Best Foreign Language film. The nominees for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on 23 January 2018 and the Oscars ceremony will be held on 4 March 2018 in Los Angeles.
