Soweto Gospel Choir to Johnny Clegg: You are truly a Scatterlings of Africa

Cape Town – Nearly forty years after he began one of music’s most remarkable careers, Johnny Clegg is currently on his final World Tour, titled The Final Journey.

After an overwhelming response to his tour, he decided to add one more Johannesburg show to compensate for disappointed fans that were not able to get their hands on tickets before they sold out.

The extra show will be taking place in Johannesburg at The Ticketpro Dome on Saturday 11 November. This show will be all kinds of special as he will be sharing the stage with a number of top local artists such as Prime Circle, The Parlotones, Soweto Gospel Choir, DJ Kent and more.

Ahead of this special show, we asked Soweto Gospel Choir about Johhny’s impact on them.

Check it out below:

What’s your favourite Johnny Clegg song?
Soweto Gospel Choir has many favourite songs including The Crossing and Scatterlings of Africa, but our absolute favourite is Asimbonanga. Even when we lost the icon of the nation, Tata Mandela, this song reminded the world of how his struggle kept us together.

What has been his influence on you musically?
Johnny has taught us how to perform each concert as if it’s our last performance, to respect the music and to respect the audience. He showed us that his music and dance can bring together all types of people throughout the world even if they don’t always understand the lyrics.

If you could say one thing to Johnny, what would it be?
Thank you for the great music and talent that you have blessed us with, and thanks to your family for sharing you with the world. You are truly a Scatterlings of Africa.

WIN: Enter our Johnny Clegg competition here! (A hamper consisting of concert tickets, a CD, a T-shirt and more are up for grabs as well as the chance to win a signed guitar!)
