Los Angeles - Taylor Swift is working on new music.

Just days after the star - who is renowned for writing songs inspired by her love life - split from Tom Hiddleston, her close pal Gigi Hadid revealed Taylor, 26, is back in the studio.

Speaking at her Tommy x Gigi show at New York Fashion Week on Friday, which Taylor attended, Gigi told Entertainment Tonight: "She's obviously such a great friend, and you know she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me, and I am so grateful for that."

Taylor's last album 1989 was released in 2014 and is widely believed to contain songs about her brief relationship with One Direction singer Harry Styles, 22.

Since then she has dated Calvin Harris, 32, for over a year and enjoyed a brief romance with Tom, 35, which ended this week.

And it was recently claimed that Taylor's close pal Selena Gomez advised the star to put her energy into working on a new record after the split.

A source told HollywoodLife.com: "When Taylor told Selena about the breakup, the first thing Selena advised Taylor to do was slow down. Selena has known about the Taylor and Tom split for a while.

"Selena's advice was to take a break from men and to spend some time enjoying being single."

Selena told Taylor to "focus her energy in the studio, and drop a new album before another boyfriend pops up".
