The Lumineers announce SA opening act for their tour

Cape Town - Popular American folk rock band The Lumineers make their return to South Africa for their Cleopatra World Tour in April.

In support of the tour, 5FM ran a six-week-long search to find the opening act for the band for their Cape Town concert on 26 April and Johannesburg one on 28 April.

Six popular indie bands were identified and listeners had to vote for their favourites via the 5FM App. The four bands shortlisted were The Shabs, Opposite the Other, Early Hours and Sean Koch Trio.

On Thursday morning on Fresh@5, the band's Jeremiah Fraites announced their choice with Cape Town-based band Opposite the Other taking top spot as opening act for both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The Lumineers have also added another Cape Town band, Early Hours, to the Cape Town leg, saying they would open the day.
