Cape Town – On Friday morning, The Voice SA winner Richard Stirton released his debut single What Tears Me The Most and it has already reached the Number 1 spot on the South African iTunes charts.
Richard has been on a rollercoaster ride since winning The Voice SA on M-Net on 22 May having already earned his first major accolade of an iTunes #1 with his rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence from the hit show.
Of this incredible journey Richard said: “These have been the most surreal last few months and I cannot believe I finally have the opportunity to start releasing original music. I am feeling very blessed and I hope that everybody enjoys the music I have to share.”
He recently recorded his first original single, What Tears Me The Most, over a number of days in Johannesburg in early June. This heart-warming single was penned by Brit Awarding winning artist James Bay and is perfectly suited to Richard’s organic, authentic voice and magnetic sincerity.
Talking of his single, Richard says: "I hope that people are able to connect with the song on a number of levels, but especially a lyrical connection, because at the end of the day music is all about the message."
Richard is currently working on material for a full length album set for release in early August.
